Prepare the fridge and the society gate pass
Two jobs cause more waiting in Pakistani buildings than a slow truck. The fridge is still cold and full of water, and the society has not allowed the vehicle through the gate. Both can be finished the day before. Neither needs a special tool.
This is the practical note for 5 October 2026, for houses and flats in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and the societies around them.

The fridge and the washing machine
Empty the fridge the day before. Switch it off and leave the doors open so the ice melts into a tray, not onto the carton underneath it on the truck. Take out glass shelves if they rattle. Keep the fridge upright. A fridge on its side can leak oil into the cooling pipes. If the stairs force a tilt, tell the crew, and do not plug it in the moment it is stood up again. Ask them how long to wait.
Drain the washing machine. A machine that still holds water is heavy and it drips through the truck. If you still have the transit bolts that came with it, fit them. If you threw them away, say so. Do not invent a fix with random screws. The hose should be empty and taped up so it does not trail dirty water across the new floor.
The television
A TV that is still on the wall bracket is not ready. If you can take it down safely, do that before the crew is carrying a sofa on the same stairs. If you cannot, say it is mounted when you book, so they bring a box and do not treat it like a cushion. The screen faces inward, and nothing heavy sits on the box. Glass and plates have their own note on this site. A TV is the same idea: one box, no extra weight.
The society gate and the lift
DHA, Bahria, Askari, cantonment areas, and many apartment blocks want a gate pass and a time for the lift. Ask the management the day before, in writing if they use a slip or a WhatsApp message from the office. Find out the hours a truck may stand inside, and whether the service lift must be booked. A guard’s nod at the gate is not a booking.
Send that time to Marsoos with the floor number. If the truck can only enter before 10, the crew cannot start at noon and still use the lift. If it is raining, read the rain note as well. A covered load and a gate that closes in bad weather are two separate problems.
What you carry yourself
Passports, cash, jewellery, medicines, chargers, and the keys of the new house stay with you. They do not go in a carton labelled “misc.” The same is true of the society slip. If the slip is in a box on the truck, you cannot show it at the gate.
