How to move furniture when the building has no lift
A building without a lift is a normal job in Pakistan. It becomes an expensive job when nobody measured the landing. The wardrobe door, the sofa arm, and the fridge depth all have to clear the turn. A promise that “the boys will manage” is not a plan.
Measure before you book
Measure the narrowest point: the stair width, the landing depth, and the door of the room the piece must enter. Compare that with the sofa and the fridge. If a piece cannot turn, it has to be dismantled, hoisted, or left behind. Decide that before the truck is in the street.
A hoist is a different booking from carrying by hand. It needs a side of the building that is clear, a machine, and permission. Do not assume a housing society will allow it because the mover arrived.
What should be taken apart
Ordinary beds and tables come apart. Marble tops, glass, and anything glued should be discussed in the survey, not discovered on the stairs. A marble top that chips on a turn is not fixed by extra blankets.
Label the hardware in a small bag taped to the frame. The crew that unloads in another city, or on another day, will not remember which bolts belonged to which bed.
The street still matters
If the truck cannot enter the lane, the carry starts at the corner. That extra distance is labour. Tell the office about a basement, a barrier, and a society rule that only allows loading at a set hour. Islamabad sectors, Karachi towers, and old-city lanes fail in different ways, but they all fail when the access was a surprise.

One more thing to settle
Tell the office the floor number in the first sentence. A ground-floor house and a fourth-floor walk-up are different crews. If the society only allows loading before 10 a.m., that limit is part of the booking. Miss it and the truck waits outside while you pay for time nobody is using. The same rule applies in a plaza, a flat, and a house in a division headquarters.
